    Beard and Mustache Transplantation

Beard Transplantation; It is the process of planting hair follicles taken one by one from the beardless parts of the face of men, usually from the back of the hair or from a suitable part of the body.

WHY IS A BEARD TRANSPLANTATION AND MUSTACHE TRANSPLANTATION PERFORMED?

Beard and mustache have an aesthetic value for men in our society. It is even called ‘men’s make-up’ for beard. Just as it is normal for women to wear make-up, it is also normal for men to grow a beard and mustache.

There can be many reasons for deficiencies in the beard area. Among these, there are congenital causes, which are called cornering among the people, lack of sufficient hair follicles, burning and trauma. Deprivation in the beard can negatively affect people in terms of aesthetic anxiety. It can cause a lack of self-confidence in people.

CAUSES OF BEARD LOSS AND SPARSENESS

We can list the factors that cause beard and mustache sparseness as follows:

    • Hormonal disorders that will prevent hair growth
    • Not having enough hair follicles in the area
    • Corneriness caused by genetic factors
    • No hair growth due to the destruction of hair follicles in the area due to reasons such as epilation, wounds, burns
    • Permanent baldness in the area due to any skin or health problem

Beard transplantation and mustache transplantation procedures are applied with a method called DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) method. In this method, hair follicles taken one by one from the donor area of the person are transferred to the beard or mustache area. The main reason for using the DHI sowing method is that there is no scar after the procedure. With the DHI method, the process is completed in a very practical way.

DHI method is used in beard and mustache transplantation. In this method, the transplantation process begins with the determination of the donor area. In beard transplantation, it may be preferred to remove the hair on the neck and cheekbones, which are close to the beard area and are not very aesthetically necessary. If enough grafts (1 graft contains 2-3 hair follicles on average) cannot be obtained from these areas, it is decided to remove hair from a different donor area.
In beard and mustache transplantation processes, our experts determine the area to be transplanted and how much hair follicles should be transplanted to the area. After that, the planting process is carried out with the DHI method in the area to be planted. Thanks to this method, it is not necessary to apply a laborious process such as pre-grooving to the area to be planted. The fine-tipped DHI pen takes the hair root, then quickly opens a channel and places it in the area to be transplanted.
Another method that can be used in beard and mustache transplantation is the FUE method. In this method, unlike the DHI method, a grooving process must be applied. It is of great importance that the channels are opened at the right angle to be suitable for the width of the hair follicles to be planted and to make the beard look natural. After the channel opening process, it is time to take the grafts from the donor area. A determined number of grafts are taken from the donor area by a device called a micro motor with a very fine tip and high circuit. The hair follicles taken one by one are placed in the channels opened in the area to be planted and the process is completed.

The transplantation process does not cause any pain or ache. Local anesthesia applied at the beginning of the procedure eliminates the possibility of pain and ache during the procedure.
